The question about tax advisor costs on Mallorca comes up with us almost always at the same moment: your first spring as a resident is over, the Renta campaign is underway, and it suddenly turns out that a foreign pension, a brokerage account back home, and a rental apartment abroad all belong on your Spanish tax return. Ask around for quotes and you'll get numbers anywhere from 80 to 900 EUR for what looks like the same service. That range almost always comes down to what you actually need, and rarely to the firm's price list. This guide sorts out the typical price ranges, explains the difference between a gestor, an asesor fiscal, and an abogado, and lists the questions worth asking at your first meeting. We deliberately leave out specific firm names.

At a glance

A simple Renta at a Spanish gestoría starts around 80 EUR. With foreign income and questions about a double taxation treaty, a firm working in your language typically charges between 400 and 900 EUR. Self-employed workers (autónomos) pay 60 to 150 EUR a month for ongoing bookkeeping, a small SL 150 to 400 EUR. An advisory hour costs 120 to 300 EUR.

Gestor, asesor fiscal, or abogado: who does what?

An asesor fiscal in Spain is a tax advisor without a legally protected title. Unlike some countries where the role requires a state exam, qualifications here range from a business degree with extra training to plain professional experience. That makes it worth looking at someone's background and specialty rather than their title alone.

The three roles you'll come across on Mallorca overlap but have different focuses:

  • The gestoría handles forms and deadlines: the Renta, registering as self-employed, quarterly filings, social security. Cheap, fast, but rarely geared toward foreign income. What a gestoría actually does is covered in the guide to the gestoría on Mallorca.
  • The asesor fiscal advises and plans. They answer questions like "where do I pay tax on my company pension?" or "is the Beckham regime worth it for me?" and usually take over the filing afterward too.
  • The abogado gets involved for appeals against the Agencia Tributaria, inheritance matters, or contract drafting. They bill by the hour or by the value in dispute and are too expensive for a plain tax return.

Many firms on the island offer all three roles under one roof. In that case you pay the gestoría rate for the Renta and the asesor's hourly rate for advice.

What a tax return (Renta) costs on Mallorca

The Declaración de la Renta is Spain's annual income tax return for tax residents. It's filed once a year via Modelo 100; the campaign for the 2025 tax year ran, according to the Agencia Tributaria, from April 8 to June 30, 2026. For how the return is structured, see the guide to filing a tax return in Spain.

The price depends almost entirely on how many sources of income you have and whether any of them are abroad. As a rough rule: every foreign income type that needs checking against a double taxation treaty roughly doubles the work.

PostenKostenDauer
Renta, Spanish salary or pension only (gestoría)80 to 150 EURannually
Renta with a foreign pension or rental income abroad250 to 500 EURannually
Renta with a brokerage account, rental property, pension, and treaty questions (firm working in your language)400 to 900 EURannually
Modelo 210 (non-resident tax, one property)100 to 250 EURannually
Modelo 720 (foreign assets), first filing150 to 400 EURone-time
Modelo 720, follow-up filing after changes80 to 200 EURas needed
Advisory hour with an asesor fiscal120 to 300 EURper hour

Two forms deserve their own look. Modelo 210 applies if you own property on Mallorca but aren't a tax resident in Spain. The return itself is short, so the 100 to 250 EUR you pay mostly covers someone correctly entering the cadastral values and keeping an eye on the deadline.

Modelo 720 is the information return on assets held abroad. It becomes mandatory once any one of three categories, accounts, securities and insurance, or real estate, held outside Spain exceeds 50,000 EUR in value, with a filing deadline of March 31 each year. The first filing costs more because the firm has to record every account's balance as of December 31 and its average balance for the last quarter. More detail in the guide to Modelo 720 and 721.

Watch out: a flat quote without questions is a red flag

If someone quotes you a 90 EUR Renta over the phone without asking about foreign income, a brokerage account, or property, they're pricing the simplest possible case. The extra bill then comes either from the firm later or, years down the line, from the Agencia Tributaria. Always get a written quote broken down by income type.

Ongoing costs for self-employed workers and an SL

Someone working as an autónomo usually pays a flat monthly fee rather than per-task pricing. It typically covers the quarterly filings (Modelo 303 for VAT, Modelo 130 for the income tax prepayment), the annual filings, and often the Renta as well. Registering with social security runs through the Import@ss portal of the Seguridad Social and is usually a one-time part of the setup most firms include.

Typical ranges on Mallorca:

  1. Autónomo with no employees, up to about 20 invoices a month: 60 to 100 EUR a month plus VAT.
  2. Autónomo with employees or many receipts: 100 to 150 EUR a month, with payroll processing adding 15 to 30 EUR per employee per month.
  3. Small SL with no employees: 150 to 250 EUR a month, including corporate tax (Modelo 200) and annual accounts.
  4. SL with employees and several shareholders: 250 to 400 EUR a month, with filing the annual accounts at the Registro Mercantil usually billed separately.
  5. Setting up an SL through a firm: 600 to 1,500 EUR in fees, plus notary and registry costs.

Worth noting on setting up an SL: since Ley 18/2022, "Crea y Crece", a minimum share capital of just 1 EUR is enough, and the old 3,000 EUR requirement is no longer a barrier. That doesn't change the firm's fee, since the work sits in the bylaws, the notary appointment, and the registry filing, not in the capital amount. Whether an SL is worth it compared to staying an autónomo depends on profit; below about 50,000 EUR in annual profit, the higher ongoing costs rarely pay for themselves.

Tip: negotiate the monthly fee by invoice count

Almost every firm tiers its flat fee by number of invoices. If you issue three invoices a month as a consultant, you belong in the lowest tier even if your revenue per invoice is high. Ask about this explicitly, since many quotes lead with the standard price.

When a firm working in your language is worth the extra cost

Firms on Mallorca that work in English, German, or another language typically cost double to triple what a Spanish gestoría charges. That premium is well spent if at least one of these applies to you:

  • You have income in more than one country and need to know where a pension, rent, or dividends get taxed under the double taxation treaty between Spain and your home country.
  • You're tax resident in two countries in the year you move and need someone who can talk to your accountant back home.
  • You hold a brokerage account with ETFs or funds that Spain treats differently than your home country does.
  • You have a company pension, a private retirement product, or a severance payment whose tax treatment is unclear.
  • You want someone to check whether the Beckham regime or an exit tax situation applies to you.

If none of that applies, because you earn a Spanish salary and only keep a checking account back home, the Spanish gestoría is the right call. It works cleanly, but it's set up for the standard case.

The most expensive mistake we've seen among people we know is switching too late: someone who went cheap with a gestoría at first, then discovered their foreign pension was never declared, ends up paying for corrected returns from prior years (declaración complementaria) plus surcharges. That cleanup routinely costs more than three years of advice from a firm that speaks your language would have.

Questions for your first meeting

Most firms offer a free first meeting, or bill it only if you go ahead. Use it to clarify the pricing structure before handing over any documents:

  1. Do you charge a flat fee per return or by the hour, and what happens if the Agencia Tributaria has follow-up questions?
  2. Which types of income are covered in the quoted price, and what does each additional one cost?
  3. Is the Modelo 720 review part of the Renta price or a separate item?
  4. Who actually handles my file, and do they speak my language?
  5. How far ahead of June 30 do you need my documents?
  6. What does a declaración complementaria cost if something was missed in a prior year?
  7. Are the fee and expenses quoted including IVA? On Mallorca that's 21 percent.

What does a tax advisor on Mallorca charge for a simple tax return?

For a Renta with only Spanish income, expect 80 to 150 EUR at a gestoría. Once foreign income is involved, prices run from 250 to 900 EUR, depending on how many income types there are and what language the firm works in.

Do I even need to hire an advisor for the Spanish tax return?

No. The Agencia Tributaria provides a pre-filled draft through Renta Web that you can confirm yourself if your situation is simple. With foreign income, a brokerage account, or property abroad, though, the draft falls short in exactly those areas.

Bottom line

Tax advisor costs on Mallorca range from 80 EUR for a simple Renta to 900 EUR for a return with foreign income and treaty questions; autónomos should budget 60 to 150 EUR a month, an SL 150 to 400 EUR. What matters more than the lowest price is whether the firm actually knows your kinds of income. If you only have Spanish income, the gestoría serves you well; if you keep a pension, brokerage account, or property abroad, a firm that works in your language saves you money in the long run.
