What the check does
- Searches the fine publications of the last 3 months in the TEU of the BOE live, with every way your plate can be written.
- Reads only your line from the document.
- Explains the deadline.
What the check does not do
- It cannot see fines that were delivered to you.
- It does not pay anything or file an appeal.
- It stores neither your plate nor your NIE.
- It is not an authority and has no connection to the BOE.
How up to date is this?
Every search queries the BOE at the moment you press "Search the BOE". Nothing is cached. We review the explanations on this page regularly.

Frequently asked questions
Why can’t I find my fine even though I received one?
A fine only appears in the TEU of the BOE if the authority could not deliver it to you. If it was handed to you on the spot, delivered by registered post or placed in your DEV, it will never show up there. The public search also only goes back three months. You can see all DGT proceedings for your NIE on the DGT website.
DGT website: MultasI have a match. Do I have to pay now?
Not automatically. A match means an authority tried to deliver something to you, for example the opening of proceedings, a decision or a request to name the driver. What exactly is required and by when is stated in the document. Read it before you pay or appeal.
Do I still get the 50 percent discount if my fine is in the BOE?
Yes, as long as the deadline in the notice is running. For the DGT that is 20 calendar days from the day after publication. By paying you waive the appeal and the proceedings are closed.
DGT: Pago de multasI drive with foreign plates. Where does my fine go?
The Spanish authority gets the keeper’s details through the EU data exchange and sends the notice by post to the address in the vehicle register of your home country. It practically never appears in the BOE. What matters is that someone reads your post there.
What is the DEV and should I activate it?
The Dirección Electrónica Vial is the DGT’s electronic mailbox. Anything delivered there counts as served after ten calendar days, even if you do not open it. With the DEV you will not miss a notice, but you need to check it regularly.
DGT: Dirección Electrónica VialHow can I see all my fines at once?
DGT proceedings are shown on the DGT website with Cl@ve or a digital certificate. Town halls such as Palma run their own portals. You can also sign in to the BOE with Cl@ve and set up an alert that emails you when something new is published for your NIE.
BOE: Alerta de anuncios de notificaciónWhy do you need my full NIE?
Because authorities publish the full ID number in notifications by announcement, but without the name. That is what the Disposición adicional séptima of the Spanish data protection act LOPDGDD requires. A shortened number would find nothing. We only use your number for this one search and do not store it.
BOE: Ley Orgánica 3/2018 (LOPDGDD)What happens if I ignore a fine?
Once the deadlines have passed, the decision becomes final and the authority collects the amount through enforcement proceedings, with a surcharge of up to 20 percent. The check shows such notifications as "Enforcement". Responding early saves you the surcharge and keeps the discount.
