About the service provider directory
Reading time: about 3 minutes
This page briefly explains how the directory works: where the data comes from, how providers are added, what the badges mean and how Mallorca Plus earns money with the directory. If you want to dig deeper, everything is documented in the privacy policy, section 8 and in the disclaimer .
1. Where our data comes from
The core data of the providers (name, address, phone, website, opening hours, category) comes from the Google Maps Platform via the official Places API. The star rating and the number of reviews also come directly from Google. That is why every rating carries the note Google.
The editorial texts (description, categorisation, service type, region) are written by Mallorca Plus, usually based on the Google data and the provider's website, editorially reviewed and released manually.
Providers can submit their own additions via the self-registration form (for example languages, additional contact channels, description). These are reviewed manually before publication.
2. How we keep things up to date
Core data and ratings are synchronised automatically with the Google Maps Platform at least every 30 days. Phone number, website, opening hours, average star rating and number of reviews are updated in the process. Editorial texts are not overwritten during this sync.
If Google marks a business as no longer operating (CLOSED_PERMANENTLY), we check this manually and remove the listing once the closure is confirmed. Images and review texts are not stored; this is a deliberate decision in line with the Google licensing terms.
3. How a provider gets into the directory
- Initial import: For each category and region we select the best-rated providers from publicly available sources.
- Self-registration: Owners or authorised representatives can apply for a listing via the contact form .
- Recommendation by users: You can recommend providers to us that are not yet in the directory.
Every new listing is reviewed manually before it goes live. Being listed does not create any legal entitlement.
4. What the badges mean
Verified means that we have contacted the provider personally (for example by phone or on site) and that the contact details are verified. It is not a statement about the quality of the services provided.
Trusted means that at least three independent users have recommended the provider. This too is not a statement about the quality of the services provided.
Both badges are awarded manually and are not a contractual guarantee. They serve only as guidance.
5. How we earn money
We want to be transparent about how the directory is financed. Currently and planned, there are four sources of income:
- Featured placement (advertisement): Providers can book a paid placement in the Recommended providers block. Such cards carry the label Ad. The editorial content and the provider's star rating remain untouched; choosing a paid placement does not affect any rating or verification status.
- Pay-per-lead in selected categories: when an inquiry is forwarded to a provider via the inquiry form and a contract is concluded, we receive a commission from the provider. The commercial relationship is visibly disclosed as an advertising notice in the inquiry form. No category is currently active on a pay-per-lead basis.
- Affiliate links to third-party services in guide articles and on individual detail pages. These links are marked as partner recommendation or advertising. More on this in the affiliate disclosure.
- Concierge service subscriptions: an in-house product of Mallorca Plus, not third-party advertising.
6. How a provider is changed or removed
Providers and their authorised representatives can request changes or the complete removal of their listing informally by email to hallo@mallorca-plus.de . We process such requests within 72 hours.
Users can also report incorrect or outdated data to the same address. We review every report and adjust the listing or remove it.
7. Who is behind the directory
Mallorca Plus is an independent, German-language online magazine and directory. Who is responsible for Mallorca Plus and how to reach us is set out in the imprint. You can read more about our mission and our team on the about us page.
