Phone and Computer Repair on Mallorca: Where to Go and What It Costs

The screen is cracked, the laptop won't start, or the battery barely lasts half a day: sooner or later everyone on the island needs a phone or computer repair on Mallorca. The question then is whether you go to an authorized manufacturer service center, a local independent repair shop, or an English-speaking IT service. All three exist here, and they differ a lot in price, warranty, and waiting time. If it's your router acting up rather than the device itself, our guide to Internet and Mobile Phones on Mallorca is the better place to start.
At a glance
Mallorca has authorized service points (including for Apple, in Palma), plenty of independent repair shops, and a handful of English-speaking IT services. Devices bought in Spain have carried a three-year statutory warranty since 2022. A screen replacement costs roughly 80 to 500 EUR depending on the model, a battery swap usually 60 to 135 EUR. Before you hand anything over: back up your data.
Authorized service or independent repair shop?
A Servicio de Asistencia Técnica (SAT) is a manufacturer-authorized repair business in Spain. It fits original parts, documents the repair for warranty purposes, and is the right place to go for warranty claims. Independent shops work outside the manufacturer network, often faster and cheaper, but with parts of varying quality.
For Apple devices, the setup on Mallorca is solid: there's no official Apple Store on the island, but Palma has Apple Premium Resellers with authorized service, most notably the K-tuin chain with stores in the city center and at Porto Pi. They repair iPhone, iPad, and Mac with original parts, warranty handling included. You can book ahead through the Apple support page or directly with the retailer. For Samsung, Xiaomi, and other brands, authorized service points in Palma handle warranty cases; the respective manufacturer's support page points you there.
Independent phone repair shops exist in almost every larger town, from Palma to Inca to Manacor. Many swap a screen in an hour or two, while the authorized service often ships the device off and you wait several days. English-speaking IT services are concentrated mostly in the southwest and in Palma; they're worth it when the job is bigger than a screen swap, for example network problems at a finca, data migration to a new computer, or ongoing IT support for a small business.
Warranty: three years in Spain
This is worth a closer look, because the legal position is better than many people expect. Since 1 January 2022, Spain has had a statutory warranty of three years on newly purchased products, set out in Real Decreto-ley 7/2021. Manufacturers must also keep spare parts available for ten years after production ends, as described by the Spanish consumer affairs ministry. In the first two years, the seller has to prove a defect wasn't there from the start; only in the third year does the burden of proof shift to the buyer.
That has a practical upshot: a phone bought on Mallorca is legally better protected than one bought in your home country, where statutory warranty periods are often shorter, commonly two years under the EU minimum. If a device was bought back home, any warranty claim has to go through the retailer there. Some manufacturers handle their voluntary manufacturer warranty across Europe, Apple among them, but you shouldn't count on that everywhere. If you need to ship a device back to a retailer in your home country, our guide to international shipping from Mallorca covers the options.
Careful: warranty and independent repair shops
If your device still has statutory or manufacturer warranty, take it to the seller or an authorized service center. If an independent shop opens the device, the manufacturer can refuse its voluntary warranty. Your statutory rights against the seller still stand, but arguing about it afterwards costs you time and patience.
Do I lose my warranty if I get something repaired on Mallorca? Not automatically. The statutory warranty is a claim against the seller and stays in place. Only the voluntary manufacturer warranty can lapse if an unauthorized shop opens the device. When in doubt, check your warranty status first, then get it repaired.
What repairs cost on Mallorca
A phone repair on Mallorca costs roughly the same as back home. What moves the price far more than location is whether the shop uses original parts or aftermarket ones. For orientation:
| Posten | Kosten | Dauer |
|---|---|---|
| Screen, mid-range smartphone (independent shop) | 80-150 EUR | 1-2 hrs |
| Screen, current iPhone (original part) | 300-500 EUR | 1-5 days |
| Battery replacement, smartphone | 60-135 EUR | 1-2 hrs |
| Laptop/PC diagnostics | often 0-50 EUR, usually credited against the repair | 1-3 days |
| Data recovery (logical errors) | from around 100 EUR | depends on scope |
For data recovery, the rule of thumb is simple: the more damaged the drive, the more expensive the job. Straightforward cases like accidentally deleted files are affordable, while a physically damaged hard drive can run into four figures because it needs a specialized lab. Ask for a cost estimate up front and whether the diagnostic fee gets credited if you go ahead with the repair. A reputable shop will give you a price range before starting work.
One practical tip: if you buy a new device on the island, keep the receipt, and for expensive items ask for an invoice with your NIE or company details on it. Without proof of purchase, any warranty discussion gets difficult fast. For where to buy electronics on the island in the first place, see our guide to Shopping on Mallorca.
Back up your data before handing the device over
Whether it's an authorized service center or an independent shop, never hand over a device without backing up your data first. Many repairs involve a factory reset or a board swap, and anything you didn't back up is gone.
Make a backup
For a phone, a cloud backup (iCloud or Google) is usually enough. For a computer, also use an external drive with Time Machine or Windows File History.
Prepare accounts and locks
On Apple devices, turn off Find My, otherwise the authorized service center won't even accept the device. Remove the SIM card and any memory card.
Document the condition
Take a few photos of the device and get the job order in writing, with a price range and a note of which parts will be used.
Tip: don't hand over your password
A repair shop almost never needs your main account password. A guest account is enough for testing. If a shop insists on your main password, change it beforehand and reset it again once the repair is done.
Bottom line
You won't have to search long for a phone or computer repair on Mallorca: independent shops often handle a screen or battery the same day, while warranty cases and Apple repairs with original parts mean a trip to an authorized service center in Palma. The three-year statutory warranty on purchases made in Spain is a real advantage over many home countries, but it only helps you with a receipt and the right point of contact. And the most important rule costs nothing: back up first, then head to the shop.
