How the planner works
It is based on the nine stages into which the Consell de Mallorca divides the main trail. Every stage ends in a town or at a refuge where you can stay the night. That is why the planner never splits a stage: there is no bed in between. If you have fewer days than stages, it combines neighbouring stages so that your longest day is as short as possible. If you plan by distance, it fits as many stages into a day as stay under your daily limit.
Refuge or hotel?
The Consell runs several refuges with dormitories along the route, for example Can Boi in Deià, Muleta near Port de Sóller, Tossals Verds, Son Amer near Lluc and Pont Romà in Pollença. According to the Consell, a bed costs EUR 14 per night, bed linen is extra. In high season the refuges are often booked out weeks ahead. Choose "Budget" to see the refuge first, and "Mid-range" or "Comfort" for hotels.
When is the best time?
The most pleasant months are February to May and October to November. In summer the long stages without shade are often too hot, and in winter there can be snow and ice at Coll de ses Cases de Neu. Check the AEMET mountain forecast before each stage.
Where does the data come from?
Distances, elevation and walking times come from the stage pages of the Dry Stone Route at the Consell de Mallorca. Walking times are guide values without breaks. The route on the map is based on OpenStreetMap. Hotel price ranges are editorial estimates, not offers.
