The Balearic public holiday calendar for 2027 is already fixed: the Govern approved it on 13 March 2026 and published it in the BOIB, the official gazette of the Balearic Islands. Here you will find all twelve general public holidays with their weekdays, the bridge days and the Sundays and holidays on which shops may open in 2027. How the three levels of national, regional and local holidays fit together is explained in our overview of public holidays on Mallorca.
At a glance
Mallorca has twelve general public holidays in 2027 that apply across the Balearic Islands, including the Easter holidays. On top of that come two local holidays set by each municipality. Two dates fall on a Sunday in 2027 and are not made up for: 15 August and 26 December. In return, 6 December 2027 is a Monday and a day off.
The twelve general public holidays in the Balearic Islands in 2027
These days apply equally on Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera in 2027. They are based on the Balearic Government's holiday calendar:
- Fri, January 1 - Año Nuevo (New Year's Day)
- Wed, January 6 - Epifanía del Señor (Epiphany)
- Mon, March 1 - Dia de les Illes Balears (Balearic Islands Day)
- Thu, March 25 - Jueves Santo (Maundy Thursday)
- Fri, March 26 - Viernes Santo (Good Friday)
- Mon, March 29 - Dilluns de Pasqua (Easter Monday)
- Sat, May 1 - Día del Trabajo (Labour Day)
- Tue, October 12 - Fiesta Nacional de España (National Day)
- Mon, November 1 - Todos los Santos (All Saints' Day)
- Mon, December 6 - Día de la Constitución (Constitution Day)
- Wed, December 8 - Inmaculada Concepción (Immaculate Conception)
- Sat, December 25 - Navidad (Christmas Day)
What is different in 2027 compared with 2026
If you still have the 2026 calendar in mind, there are three differences to know:
- December 26 is not a public holiday in 2027. The Segona Festa de Nadal falls on a Sunday and is not in the calendar. In 2026 it was a Saturday and a day off.
- August 15 is missing. The Assumption falls on a Sunday in 2027 and is not moved to the Monday.
- December 6 and November 1 are included. Both fell on a Sunday in 2026 and gave no day off. In 2027 they fall on a Monday.
Balearic Islands Day on March 1 is a Monday anyway in 2027, so no shift is needed this time (in 2026 it moved to March 2).
Tip: Look up holidays officially
You can find the holiday calendar on the Balearic Government website, and the legally binding version in the BOIB. The 2027 calendar was published in BOIB no. 33 of 14 March 2026.
Local holidays in 2027
On top of the twelve general days come two local holidays that each municipality sets for itself. They are usually patron saint's days. In Palma, Sant Sebastià is one of them, a Wednesday in 2027, January 20. Many villages celebrate Sant Antoni on January 17, which falls on a Sunday in 2027.
Careful: local dates vary
The BOIB publishes the local holidays in a separate list, and they change from year to year. Check them with the ajuntament of your municipality. For an appointment at a public office, the holiday that counts is the one of the municipality where the office is, not the one where you live.
Shop-opening Sundays and holidays in 2027
In the Balearic Islands a public holiday does not automatically mean all shops are closed. Each year the Comissió Interinsular de Comerç decides on which Sundays and holidays large shops may also open. For 2027 it unanimously approved ten days on 7 October 2026:
- Sun, January 3 (Sunday before Reis)
- Sun, January 17
- Mon, March 1 (Balearic Islands Day)
- Thu, March 25 (Maundy Thursday)
- Sun, May 2
- Mon, November 1 (All Saints' Day)
- Sun, November 28 (Sunday after Black Friday)
- Mon, December 6 (Constitution Day)
- Sun, December 12
- Sun, December 19
December 26 was deliberately left off the 2027 list because it is seen as a traditional family day. Municipalities may swap up to two of the ten days for their own festivals, most often January 17 and March 1. Shop-opening also only means that shops may open, not that they have to. Public offices, banks and doctors' surgeries stay closed on public holidays.
Bridge days and puentes in 2027
- January 1 is a Friday: long weekend from Friday to Sunday
- January 6 is a Wednesday: no obvious bridge day
- March 1 is a Monday: long weekend
- Easter: Maundy Thursday (March 25) to Easter Monday (March 29) gives five days off in a row
- May 1 falls on a Saturday: no extra day off
- October 12 is a Tuesday: bridge day on Monday, October 11
- November 1 is a Monday: long weekend
- December 6 and 8 are a Monday and a Wednesday: with a bridge day on Tuesday, December 7, you get five days off from Saturday 4 to Wednesday 8 December
- December 25 is a Saturday and the 26th a Sunday: no extra day off
Around the December bridge, appointments with public offices, gestorías and tradespeople tend to be scarce. If you need to get something done, book your cita previa about two weeks ahead.
How many public holidays does Mallorca have in 2027?
Quotable fact: The official Balearic working calendar for 2027 lists twelve general public holidays, national and regional combined and including the Easter holidays. Together with the two local holidays of each municipality, employees on Mallorca get 14 public holidays in 2027.
Conclusion
In 2027 Mallorca has twelve general public holidays plus two local ones in your municipality. The dates fall more favourably than in 2026: November 1 and December 6 are on a Monday, and Easter brings five days off in a row. On the other hand, August 15 and December 26 are lost because both fall on a Sunday. What is open when during the 2026/2027 Christmas season is in our guide Christmas in Mallorca.
